Powertrain & Performance

When it comes to powertrain and performance the Dodge Durango makes up a little ground with more horsepower and a higher towing ability. But the Subaru Ascent holds its own with the perfect blend of powerful and efficient performance that Ishpeming drivers are looking for. The Dodge Durango has three powertrain options to choose from; 3.6L V6, 5.7L HEMI V8, and 6.4L SRT V8 HEMI. The base towing of the Dodge Durango is 6,200 lbs. which isn't much more than the Ascent which can tow up to 5,000 lbs. Powering the Ascent is a turbocharged 2.4L four-cylinder BOXER engine with 260 horsepower and gets 27 highway mpg. The Ascent also wouldn't be a Subaru without standard Subaru Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive for unmatched traction and control no matter where the road may go. The Dodge Durango comes standard with rear-wheel drive and a less capable all-wheel-drive will cost you almost $2,000 extra.

Features

The Subaru Ascent has a lot to offer in the way of features. The only multimedia features that the Dodge Durango comes standard with are Apple CarPlay & Android Auto and Bluetooth connectivity for phone calls. Bluetooth audio streaming for compatible devices is available along with two USB ports and Wi-Fi on select trim levels. The STARLINK multimedia system also includes Apple CarPlay & Android Auto standard on every Ascent as well as Bluetooth Audi streaming and dual front and rear USB ports. Every Ascent model with the exception of the base model features 4G LTE Wi-Fi connectivity. You can also get up to 8 USB ports throughout the Ascent to keep everyone charged and connected.

Price & Value:

For many Negaunee drives the biggest deciding factor between two vehicles and is just one more place where the Subaru Ascent outshine the Dodge Durango. While the Dodge Durango has a lower than the Ascent you will need to spend a good deal more to get the same standard features of the Ascent; almost $10,000 more.
